IMPACT Fellowship

SUN Youth Network Network Bangladesh

The IMPACT Fellowship is a six-month youth leadership programme designed to develop a new generation of public health and nutrition leaders capable of addressing Bangladesh’s evolving nutrition challenges, including maternal and child nutrition, anemia, micronutrient deficiencies, and diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The fellowship combines expert-led training, practical workshops, peer learning, and community engagement to bridge academic knowledge with real-world impact and policy advocacy. Two cohorts of the fellowship were successfully held, with a total of 60 participants: 30 in Rangpur and 30 in Rajshahi. Fellows were drawn from diverse backgrounds, including medicine, public health, nutrition, agriculture, and food systems, reflecting a multisectoral approach to tackling nutrition challenges. During the training, participants developed leadership skills, learned evidence-based approaches, and gained practical tools to design and implement nutrition interventions. Following the training, all 60 fellows are actively engaged in community-level initiatives, translating their learning into tangible actions that promote healthier diets, safe food environments, and improved nutrition outcomes across their local communities. By fostering youth leadership, collaboration, and advocacy, the IMPACT Fellowship is creating a cohort of empowered young leaders committed to driving sustainable change in Bangladesh’s food and nutrition landscape.
